Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Training

Dialectical behavior therapy is an evidence-based treatment aimed at helping people utilize concrete strategies to manage their emotions, tolerate distress, interact more effectively with others, and build a life worth living. It is a specialized form of cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) developed to help people who struggle with managing intense and rapidly changing emotions.

The goal to DBT is to develop more effective and skillful responses to emotions, and to replace difficult behaviors with functional ones. While many therapists provide eclectic talk therapy, using DBT offers a huge toolbox of tangible and effective skills to cope. The four core skills areas are aimed at helping people manage extreme mood swings, anger, chaotic relationships, impulsivity, negative self-judgment, sense of emptiness, and confusion.

We offer DBT Skills Training in several formats. We provide skills training to individuals, families, and in a group setting. For more information about our Adult DBT Group, click here
